I think all these help guides are excellent, but no one is talking about the transfer of teen social life to the online medium, in the combination of cell phones, social networking sites, and video games that allow chat and voice communication. 1. The problems that teens have in real life manifest themselves in online behavior and vice versa. 2. They are subject to bullying, crime, predators, etc online just as much as they are subject to them in real life. 3. They lie to their parents about their online lives. 4. They lie about their ages to online services. The intrigue going on online can well contribute to the real depression teens are feeling that might cause them to commit suicide, and no one is looking at this. We are just going around being puzzled about why the suicide rate is going up so dramatically. One reason for this is that teen online social life is fast and speaks in multimedia, and for this generation, their adult parents are still illiterate. Completely and totally illiterate. And many parents don't care, no matter what articles tell you. When this generation of teens have children, they will be better able to protect them because they will have already played all the tricks before.
