There were some things I really liked about this article. The most interesting part of the article included the differences in depression when comparing men to women. There are also lots of useful links at the bottom of the page and overall I really like this site. After I read this article I browsed around the site and I like what I see. I've noticed in other areas that deal with depression on WEGO that they have used this site as a reference and I have really liked what I have read on their site so far. It might not be the most visual friendly site I've been on but the information provided is good.
Good summary of the major factors contributing to depression in women
Interesting article, though some of the statements seemed a bit facile - e.g., you live alone and you are a woman and this puts you at high risk for depression? I just found my self wondering about the stats behind some of the statements. They do provide cites to check some of the statements so that was a plus. RE: SSRI's - no in utero or developmental effects on fetuses - but no comment on how the drugs affect behavioral aspects, motor development of infants after birth. Curious if any studies have been done.
This website was a bit overwhelming at first - there were links all over the place and ads placed mid-writing. It was a little distracting. I didn't give up on it though and continued reading. The colored boxes put in different formats were helpful, as they pulled attention to specific points that are of concern to most people looking at depression in women. I was pulled to them just like they were meant to do. The information was balanced, not biased, and easy to read & understand.
